It’s that time of year when we are all craving comfy & cozy spaces to kick our feet back, grab a warm blanket and relax.

I tend to be simple when it comes to decor, but I wanted to make the living room especially cozy for the holidays this year.
The main area I decorated was our fireplace mantle. I actually have a tutorial on how I painted this DIY mantle I built out of old wood from our house.
It’s become a tradition to do make sugar jar globes with the kids every year. I let them add the trees and some small toys to create whimsical scenes for our mantle and shelves.
The stockings are actually hand sewn creations I made for the kids several years ago.
I LOVE the way multiple trees look in a room, so this year, I layered a couple flocked trees in our living room to create a magical forest feel. Next year I kind of want to add more. But shhhh! My husband doesn’t know that yet. Haha!
To make the room feel even cozier, I have been putting the Netflix fireplace on the TV. It just makes the room feel super warm & comfy,
I made these DIY gingerbread ornaments with the kids this year. It’s another tradition of ours. This year we made stars and a moon phase for this tree’s theme. Here’s our salt dough recipe.
We spend most of our family time in this space, so I really wanted it to be fun for the kids.
This year I went full “Post Office” style on our presents. Masking tape on the wrapping paper and all. But don’t worry! Santa has plans for fun wrapping paper on the stocking gifts.
One of my FAVORITE items that I purchased for our decorations this year are all the tin bells I put on the trees.
I stacked some of the old books from my husband’s childhood on the shelf, with the red and green covers faking outward. This was a super simple way to tie all the Christmas colors together in this space.
While I am a HUGE fan of copper twinkle lights, I also love using normal string lights. The add a comfy glow to pretty much any space.
That’s it for now! Hope you are having a wonderful Christmas season with your loved ones.
