DIY Jig Saw Nativity Blocks

Today I wanted to share some more pictures of our DIY jig saw Nativity Blocks.

DIY Jig Saw Nativity Blocks

We always had a glass nativity set growing up. It’s fragile nature resulted in armless wisemen, a half faced Joseph & so forth. Oh, and we always had a tradition of leaving baby Jesus out until Christmas Day when he was born… which resulted in Him getting lost…

It was about time to alter the tradition, in a kid friendly way!

Silas and I made these blocks using a 2×6 board (which is like less than $4 at Lowes or Home Depot) and a simple Jig Saw.

Once we traced & cut out the figures, I painted them with acrylic paint. You can see my basic process with the woodland animal blocks we made HERE.

The kiddos love them so far.

Here are some close ups of all the figurines.

For now we have it on the “Off Limits” shelf (so named because I can never put anything breakable on it or the shelves below due to a certain one year old)

So there you have it! Make your own with the template below- and tag me on Instagram @welivedhappilyeverafter.

  1. These are adorable! I love the idea of having something that won't break easily if someone knocks into the shelf. Nice work! 😀

pattern? or do I have to draw them myself?

  3. Anonymous says:

Wow, that’s a great idea! It looks so different to all that mass-produced staff. Like also the way you painted it. And your daughter is so cute =).
