It’s been a while since I’ve shared anything about our DIY spiders. Looking back, I didn’t even post the look I put together with our EXTRA giant momma spider from last fall. Whoops.
So today I wanted to share the behind the scenes on making a larger version of the medium ones I made three falls ago (go HERE to see how to make the above ones for only $15 each)
But enough about the smaller (but still HUGE spiders). This post is about the Mother Of All Spiders. She is bigger than the other three combined.
Here’s the DIY video I made all about her.
Here you can see Mama Spider perched up on top of the roof.
Here’s a close up of one of the “smaller ones”
This year I decided to go for it and create a giant spider web. I mean, why not?
I used plastic wrap. Not bad for just $4 worth. I also used tape, bubble wrap, and white Christmas lights to make a cocoon for the center of the web.
I’ve never been into “gross” decorations, but my boys LOVE bugs. So I think this is a super fun to do for the kids during halloween.
And there are pretty pumpkins involved too.
I love how the cocoon on the web gives off a glow.
Here’s a glimpse on how it’s hanging. There is duck tape and some hooks involved.
I always get asked how I hang them. Pipe cleaners twisted around stuff is my favorite method. Here you can see one twisted around a screw that’s on our glass door. I also use them to wrap around spindles and pillars. You can always use duck tape as well.
The kids LOVE it. They always beg me to put them up.
They don’t care that it isn’t October yet. Haha! They just want SPIDERS!
I hope the neighbors don’t mind.
We are the most “extra” house on the block when it comes to fall decor. That’s for sure!
I may or may not have pulled up a lawn chair and just sat outside looking at these guys for an hour or two after install. Haha!
We always get cars slowing down or even pulling over to get a better look at these guys.
What I love most about this is its a DIY. We made them ourselves, and I hope to use them for MANY years to come.
Also! I’m so honored to write that our Giant Spiders have officially been featured on Today with Hoda and Jenna! You can go watch the clip HERE.
Thanks for stopping by today! Let me know if you try your hand at making some DIY spiders. The full “step by step” tutorial for these spiders can be found on THIS post.
