The living room has always been one of the most challenging spaces for me to decorate. It’s where we spend most our time in together as a family. But when it comes to this room, function has always been more important than looks I guess.

I have always loved decorating this mantle that I built though.
Last year I went a little decor heavy in this space. This year I wanted to keep it a bit more clean and fresh. So I decked it out with the homemade stockings I sewed for the kids years back, and I added some sugar snow globes with bottle brushes and toy animals up on top. Mixed together with my vintage mirror and antique candle sticks, I’d say it looks beautiful.
Then last week I added a tree to the kitchen. I love how it peeks into the living room.
I layered some bells on the staircase rail and called it a day.
One thing I love about this space is how all the metals tie in with each other.
Overall, I’m just keeping everything pretty and simple this year.
