This is literally a post that proves the saying “One man’s Trash is another man’s Cupcake Stand”
I’m not kidding… this cupcake stand was made from a trash can… and also a table leg we found in our neighbor’s yard on collection day… so plural trash… Shhh!!!
I have literally sworn never to make another wedding cake… They are a pain. Now a naked cake… I could do a naked wedding cake… but not a pristine, 9 tiered fondant one (been there done that… and it was so stressful) So I begged my sister to just do cupcakes for her wedding.
As a thank you for obliging me, I made her this epic DIY Wedding Cupcake Stand.
I was really simple, we just screwed two shelving boards on top of the table leg, and the two boards onto the bottom of the trash can (which was, for our purpose, the top…) Then we stacked them.
Lastly, I painted them my favorite color to make all these elements match.
I was afraid it would be too tall and massive on the cocktail table it was on, but it just ended up being an epic asset to the decor.
We had a super fun cupcake baking and decorating party at 1 am two days before the wedding with some family members. They weren’t “perfectly” matching, but they sure were GORGEOUS (and so yummy!)
We topped it off with a fake cake made out of plastic gems, royal icing, a cylinder box, and gold spray paint.
Here’s the stand from another angle… btw, we made way more cupcakes than could fit on the stand… oops!
Isn’t the room so pretty?
I just couldn’t get enough of it!
So there you have it. A gorgeous cupcake tower made with reclaimed wood pieces.See more photos from the wedding HERE.
I love the cake stand, especially the color! Love how easily customizable this is 🙂
