Easy DIY Floating Shelves

I really wanted to add a gallery wall in Jason’s room. I love chunky floating shelves, but our walls have really weird stud placements, so we went with a more light weight solution & I LOVE how they turned out SO much! It’s like an interchangeable gallery wall.

The process for these shelves was super easy. You don’t even need to have power tools (other than an old fashioned screw driver) if you get the boards cut at your local lumber store!

Try to pick out the least warped ones possible. I wanted mine to go from the wall to the window, with just a small gap. So that’s how we cut them,

Using a right angled metal bracket, strong screws (and a few anchored drywall screws) we added them to the boards to make the shelves. We ended up using 3 per shelf.

Make sure to screw them into the wall studs. Ours are a nightmare to find (seriously, our stud finder & even nailing a line into the wall revealed that our studs are positioned very strangely….) So use drywall anchors if necessary.

Super easy & inexpensive, these DIY floating shelves are one of my favorite parts of Jason’s nursery!

That’s it for now. Have a wonderful Friday everyone!

Where did you get the right angled metal brackets? I have been looking for something similar to these for the same concept! The ones I found at home depot don't seem thick enough to hold the weight of a piece of wood. Thanks in advance!

Your nursery is adorable! I was wondering what width of wood you used and the color of the stain?
