Hello friends! I hope you all are having a fantastic week! I am so excited to share today’s post with you all. It just so happens to be the first totally complete space in our new house. Like it is DONE. No more work needed. Can you guess which space I’m about to share? It’s our gorgeous dreamy DIY Walk In Butler’s Pantry. It is decked out with stunning modern farmhouse floating shelves, and is organized from top to bottom with dishes, baking ingredients, and root vegetables. It’s the definition of my dream pantry. Oh, and it even has a wreath. I kid you not! Check it out.

My heart has longed for a walk in pantry for the longest time. So when we decided to take down the upper cabinets in our kitchen, I knew that I didn’t want to add new ones. I wanted a walk in pantry instead. If you go past the kitchen into the back of the house, there was a weird bump in space next to the laundry room. So even though it was a few steps out of the kitchen, I knew that this was the perfect spot for my panty.

My husband Silas built up a wall to enclose it, and we opted to leave the space open, using a wider casing, becuase I knew that this pantry was going to be an amazing focal point.

Like seriously, on any given day, you can find me standing in front of this space, just staring… awkwardly… and there may be a bit of sighing going on as well.

I wanted some super heavy duty shelving, and knew from the start that I wanted to use Crate & Pallet brackets. They are sold at the Home Depot, and one thing I love about them is that they are forged steel, and give off a super sleek, modern farmhouse vibe. We used the 12″ ones for the back shelf and the 10″ ones for the side shelves.

When using 1″ lumber shelves they recommend the spacing be 24″ – 28″ max between two brackets. But since we used 2″ thick lumber, we only had to use two brackets per shelf, spacing them about about 48 in” a part. They also reccomend using #10 screws for installation.

Want to know a super cool fact:

A pair of these brackets could hold a 200 lb. man. Like wow… Haven’t tested that stat out yet, but that makes me feel safer about putting all my dishes and breakables up on these shelves!

We eat mostly meals cooked from scratch, and I LOVE baking. So now I have a super organized way of displaying and storing all mah ingredients. Like this pantry makes all my obsessive organization dreams come true. This is MY space. My kiddos (and husband for that fact!) better not move a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g.

Haha! Not really, they are welcome to raid the baskets for the treats I put there for them… as long as they don’t touch anything else. No really, they can totally come in my pantry… hmmmm. #momcave

One super practical pantry organization tip is that when I’m running low on something, it’s never been easier to eyeball my stash (or snap a photo of it) and make a grocery list. Everything is out in the open, so I have a much easier time remembering what I need to shop for.

I seriously thought I was going to run out of space on these shelves with all of our food. But you guys, this room is MASSIVE. You know that scene in Beauty and the Beast where Belle is swinging around on a ladder in the library….? Yeah, that’s basically how I feel about this space. It’s so big & I ended up being able to add some dishes & pretty things in there too.

And now let me talk about the crates. These babies are also from Crate & Pallet (you can get your hands on them at Home Depot) They came in raw wood, so I was able to stain, paint, wax & seal them to fit the exact look I wanted in my pantry. Isn’t that neat? They are super light weight, but very sturdy. I like to store our bread, chips, and snack foods in these big ones on the bottom shelf.

One thing about me is that I love the “antique grunge look”, but my family’s health is also important to me. By finishing these crates myself, I got the antique look I wanted without having to worry about where they had been. Win.

The new wall between our laundry room and this pantry was the perfect place to add this new hand lettered series of art- I made them into canvases so everyone could enjoy them. Check them out HERE.

Believe it or not, all these plates are our every day dishes. Personally I find it really practical for them to be out in the open.

I thought Silas would make fun of me for putting a wreath in the pantry… I mean, I couldn’t help myself. It was too freaking cute! But it turns out he thinks it looks really nice too. Phew! Now I’ll forever be know as “the girl who has a wreath in her pantry.” Haha!

But for simplicity, here’s a view of the whole space without the wreath. It’s so gorgeous either way.

This crate underneath the wreath is where I put all the random small stuff that can’t be stored out of it’s packaging. Hot sauce, peanut butter, cake mixes, yah know, all the good stuff? I also have some canned goods in there too.

For the most part, everything in the jars are ingredients we use on a daily basis. The jars with the white lids are ones from Amazon (see the bottom of the post for source links), and the tall jars to the left are the Korken Ikea Jars (see list at bottom of post for source links)

Up on the top shelves I have more canned food, and stuff that we don’t use often. I am thinking about making a storage solution for sorting canned goods in this black space to the left. But who am I kidding, we already have a million other projects going on that take priority right now.

This sweet little Rifle Paper recipe box was a purchase I made several month’s back. I’ve had recipe cards floating around everywhere in my last two houses, and I wanted to also stop loading and searching my pinterest boards for the recipes I had saved.

(You guys- one of my biggest fears: what if the world lost the internet forever, and I lost all my pinterest pins- could it get any more scary? Let’s not even think about it… ah!)

I also wanted a space to put all my root vegetables. I was a little skeptical about keeping them out in the open, but I placed them in the corner of the pantry that gets the least about of light.

Again, I used some crates from Crate & Pallet. These ones are my personal favorites becuase they can be stacked.

As far as the veggies… So far so good… but I am watching you… yes you potatoes! Don’t you dare go bad on me.

The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling, and I didn’t want to always be grabbing a chair everytime I needed a boost… so I used some of the left over shelving boards from the pantry and made a little step stool. This baby allows me to touch the ceiling when I’m on the second step. And it looks all adorable and farmhousy.

My spices are tucked back behind where the wreath normally hangs. Each lid has a little chalkboard top, and I wrote the name of each spice with a white marker on top.

I am literally in awe of how this space came together. Like, I couldn’t have imagined it any better.

I am feeling pretty thankful & so very blessed right now. This house is becoming a home you guys! It’s becoming MY home & I can’t wait for the holidays to come so I can use everything in my pantry already!
