Meet Julie the Dinosaur. I asked my husband what we should name her, and he said Julie… so Julie she is!
Julie Measures 18″ long from nose to tail & 10″ from toes to spikes.
After printing & cutting out your pattern pieces, you need to assemble them as illustrated above. Tape the pieces connected by the light grey strips.
Cut out fabric with a 1″ hem allowance.
I didn’t add all the spike rings or the patch heart to the pattern because I didn’t follow a pattern for them (I just cut the tie part of a fluffy robe & sewed them into 16 rings.)
For the “Body”
1. Place the two “underneath” leg parts the two body pieces (one on each)
You do this by placing your body piece with the front facing you, and then put your “underneath body piece” on top so that it’s front is facing the front of the body piece.
2. Sew together, then turn inside out.
3. Now sew together the opening between the two leg pieces (you will then be sewing the tummy together) But leave an opening to stuff!
4. Stuff it!
For the “spikes, heart & eyes”
1. Sew a long strip of fabric together, then cut into pieces about 5″ long. Sew on as illustrated Turn the rings inside out.
2. Sew on your eyes and a heart (if you want!)
Who’s cuter? Hmmmmm. 🙂
“Mommy, stop taking pictures of the dinosaur and pay attention to the real cutie here!”
” She said what?!”
A little tired of all these pictures…..
Thanks for stopping by!
The End. 🙂

Thank you! I just hope that all my tutorials inspire people & show them how easy this stuff is. 🙂

Make me one!!!!
I am going to be selling them once I get my Etsy Shop up. Check my site to stay updated. <3
Great tutorial! Making one of these guys!
Awesome!
WOW this is adorable! your idea of using a robe is awesome!
what do you mean by sewing two leg parts to the body? why does it have to be separately attached? sorry I'm new to making stuffed animals!
can't wait to try it!
Thanks! It was a lot of fun to make!
Okay, Sorry it was confusing. In order to have a "realistic" looking stuffed animal, you need to have at least 3 pattern pieces (this one calls for 4) In this one you need to sew the leg parts together so you will have legs and then you stuff it & sew the two leg pattern pieces together so they make a tummy.
Here is a really good clear tutorial that might help if I wasn't clear enough.

ps) I am going to be coming out with a more detailed, step by step pattern on my Etsy shop with to scale pattern pieces if that would be helpful.

thank you very much, it is beautiful
Thanks for sharing your super cute tutorial. It has been featured here: http://www.plushiepatterns.com/diy-dinosaur-tutorial/
Your dinosaur is so cute and I'm looking forward to making it for my niece. Only question, you didn't really show how to sew the "spikes" onto the body; did you do something special or just do a simple hand-stitch? Thanks!
They were hand stitched, but you could always line them upside down in between the two layers of fabric before sewing the two body pieces together. Hope that helps! 🙂
I made a smaller version of this, and sewed the spines into triangles, but this was a really great tutorial. Your blog really has been an inspiration to me, as I've just gotten into felting and stuffed animal-making. Thank you and God bless you <3
I cant seem to get the download pattern to work. I have tried several days now and the link always says it is broken.
Fixed! Thanks! 🙂
